A metallic epoxy floor is an epoxy system with metallic pigments suspended in the resin. While the resin is still liquid, the pigments are moved by hand and with tools, and they settle into swirls, veins and depth that look like marble, stone or liquid metal. Because the pattern is made on the day and the pigment keeps moving until the resin sets, every floor is one of a kind; you choose the colors and the direction of the movement, not an exact copy of a photo. It is a decorative system for interiors: living rooms, receptions, offices, gyms and showrooms. It runs about $8 to $15 per square foot installed, estimated; the range depends on the slab, the preparation, the colors and the size of the area. Like every system we install, it starts with diamond grinding and a moisture test, because the pattern is only as good as the bond underneath.
Three things: the base color, the metallic pigments on top of it, and how they are moved. Dark bases with gold or silver give depth and contrast; light bases with pearl or champagne tones read softer and larger. Movement can be broad and calm or tight and veined.

Metallic epoxy is an interior floor. It shines in rooms with good light and moderate traffic, and it holds up in gyms and commercial receptions with the right topcoat.
It is not the choice for exteriors or areas with direct, all-day sun without a UV-stable topcoat, because epoxy can amber over time in UV light. And because it is glossy, it can be slippery when wet: for kitchens or areas that get wet often, a textured topcoat or a different system is the better call.
A metallic floor is usually finished with a clear protective topcoat that adds abrasion resistance and, where there is sun, UV stability. The sheen can go from high gloss to satin. The choice depends on the room and the traffic.

The base system: a poured resin layer that seals the slab and gives you a seamless, easy-to-clean surface with no grout lines to scrub.
We can match the colors and the style of movement. An exact copy is not possible: the pigments move until the resin sets, so every metallic floor comes out one of a kind.
Dry, it is not. Wet, a high-gloss finish can be slippery, so in areas that get wet we recommend a textured topcoat or a different system.
We do not recommend it in direct, all-day sun without a UV-stable topcoat, because epoxy can amber over time. It is an interior system.
