Most floors we install run $6 to $7 per square foot. Fort Lauderdale has an older housing stock than the western suburbs, and that changes the job in two ways. First, a lot of these homes already have terrazzo under the carpet or tile — original mid-century terrazzo that is worth restoring rather than covering, and grinding it back is usually cheaper than putting a new floor over it. Second, the closer you get to the Intracoastal, the more moisture the slab holds. We test before we choose, because a sealed system over a wet coastal slab is the single most common reason a floor fails here.

Almost always yes. Original terrazzo is a genuinely valuable floor and restoring it — grinding, filling and polishing — usually costs less than installing anything new on top. Send photos of the worst section and we will tell you honestly whether it can come back.
